Personal Profile

Gao Xiang is currently an Specially Appointed Researcher and Doctoral Supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China, and has been selected for the 'CAS Youth Hundred Talents Program'. He obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2012, and his Ph.D. from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2017. From 2017 to 2018, he conducted his first postdoctoral research at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and then carried out his second postdoctoral research at Tel Aviv University in Israel (mentors: Michael Urbakh and Oded Hod), where he received awards such as the outstanding postdoctoral fellowships from The Raymond and Beverly Sackler Center for Computational Molecular and Materials Science and The Ratner Center for Single Molecule Science. He has been engaged in theoretical computational research on the interfacial mechanics in low-dimensional materials, including structural superlubricity and nanofluidic transport. He has published more than 20 papers as the first/corresponding author (including co-authors) in journals such as Phys. Rev. Lett., Nat. Commun., J. Mech. Phys. Solid, Nano Lett., Phys. Rev. B, J. Chem. Theory Comput., Phys. Fluids, Phys. Rev. E., and serves as a reviewer for international journals such as Nat. Commun., Nano Lett., and Carbon. His published scientific research has been reported by well-known science media including Physics World, Phys.org, and SciTechDaily.
