Gu Ping is currently an associate professor in the Department of Modern Mechanics at the University of Science and Technology of China.her main research areas are the preparation of nanomaterials and their mechanical behavior. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in materials science from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Wuhan University of Technology in 1996 and 1999, respectively, and his doctorate in solid mechanics from the Department of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering, University of Science and Technology of China in 2002. In 2002, he joined the Department of Modern Mechanics at the University of Science and Technology of China. In May 2004, he was invited by the German Institute of Composite Materials to visit the institute. From September 2004 to September 2005, he worked with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to study the mechanical properties of one-dimensional nanomaterials. He has participated in the National 863 Project 'Research on TiB2 Ceramics with Excellent Mechanical Properties', the National Natural Science Foundation 'Constitutive Model and Real-time Observation of Ceramic Sintering', the National Natural Science Foundation 'Research on Uniaxial/Multiaxial Creep Deformation and Fracture Behavior of Directionally Solidified TiAl-M Multi-element Alloy', the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Project 'Research and Application of Key Technologies of Nanocomposites in Energy-saving and Environmentally Friendly Automobiles' and the Key Scientific Research Project of High-level University Construction 'Research on Dialysis Performance and Preparation Technology Exploration of Artificial Kidney Porous Membranes', and is responsible for the National Natural Science Foundation 'Research on Mechanical Properties of Thin Film Materials Containing Nano-Ordered Pore Arrays (10302026, 200401-200612)'. He has published 20 papers.
